When
most people think of the U.S. Census, they think about the "every 10
year" census that they learned of in school. The Census Bureau
continues to conduct that decennial operation. However, as the federal
governments data collection organization, the Census Bureau conducts on
going surveys to gather statistics on crime, health, employment,
mobility and more. An especially comprehensive survey, the American
Community Survey, gathers information on nearly 40
social and economic topics and publishes the data annually and without
cost for the nation, states, counties, cities, zip codes and census
tracts (neighborhoods). Join us for a hands-on data workshop as we
learn some easy tools from a Census Bureau Data Dissemination
Specialist. Librarians, Researchers, Students, Business People,
Neighborhood Organizations and anyone interested in better understanding
the social and economic situation of their area of interest will
benefit from this free workshop. Laptop required and
seats are limited.
