Open to adults & teens. 9/26: Calle 54 (2000)(Hispanic Heritage Month)Filmmaker Fernando Trueba was introduced to Latin jazz in the 1980s. While employing noted jazz artists to score some of his films, Trueba created Calle 54, in which he gathered together a number of his favorite Latin jazz artists for a series of interviews and performances at the Sony Music recording studios in New York City. Rated G. 105 min. 10/24: Chuck Berry Hail! Hail! Rock 'n'Roll (1987) Rock 'n' roll legend Chuck Berry's 60th birthday party (October 18, 1986) forms the nucleus of Taylor Hackford's lively musical documentary. In addition to Berry, we are treated to interviews with Bo Diddley, Little Richard, Roy Orbison, The Everly Brothers, and comparative youngsters Eric Clapton, Linda Ronstadt, Keith Richards, and Bruce Springsteen. After the interviews, see blue-ribbon concert footage, showing off Berry at his indefatigable best. Highlights include such Berry standards as "Maybelline," "Johnny B. Goode," "Nadine," and "Roll Over Beethoven," as well as the contributions of the above-mentioned guest stars. Rated PG. 120 min. 11/21: (2009) The Boys: The Sherman Brothers' Story Screenwriting cousins Jeff and Gregg Sherman team up to craft this documentary exploring the darker side of the relationship shared between their famous fathers, Robert and Richard, who rose to fame penning upbeat songs for such classic children's films as Mary Poppins and Chitty Chitty Bang Bang. Their catchy, optimistic ditties masked a contentious brotherly bond however, which ultimately grew so sour that their sons Jeff and Gregg weren't aware of one another despite the fact that they only lived a few blocks apart. Rated PG.101 min.
